What this page shows
Three things, all dated:
- The Kijang Emas price, Malaysia’s gold coin, as published by Bank Negara Malaysia each business day. The price at which the central bank sells the coin and the price at which it buys it back are recorded by SIM every day, with its history.
- Buy and sell-back prices published by sellers: Maybank Islamic’s gold account (MIGA-i) and Public Gold’s bars and dinar. Each line shows the date of the price.
- A calculator: what a quantity costs at the selling price, what it fetches at the buy-back price on the same day, and the difference.
This page does not rank sellers and does not say whether to buy gold. The lines are in alphabetical order.
The spread: what a same-day round trip costs
Every seller quotes two prices: the price at which it sells gold to you, and a lower price at which it buys it back. The gap is the spread. We calculate it the same way for every line: (selling price − buy-back price) ÷ selling price.
On 2 November 2026, Bank Negara sold the 1 oz Kijang Emas at RM 16,798 and bought it back at RM 16,122, a spread of 4.0%. The same day, Maybank Islamic’s MIGA-i account sold at RM 538.20 a gram and bought back at RM 508.06 for 100 g and above, a spread of 5.6%. Public Gold’s prices move during the day: the table shows the bar and dinar prices we read on its page, with their date and spread.
A spread is the cost of buying and selling back on the same day. It is not a fee schedule, and it is not a measure of quality: products differ in weight, form, storage and delivery, as the table shows.
What each product is
- Kijang Emas is the gold bullion coin issued by Bank Negara Malaysia, in 1 oz, ½ oz and ¼ oz. The central bank publishes a selling and a buy-back price for each size every business day.
- Maybank Islamic Gold Account-i (MIGA-i) is an Islamic account in which gold is bought and sold by the gram. Maybank Islamic’s product page could not be read when we checked, so we state no purity or Shariah claim for it. Its rates are published on Maybank’s gold and silver counter rates page.
- Public Gold sells physical bars and dinar wafers and buys them back. Its price page states that prices exclude its “gold premium” and describes it as a “Shariah compliant business”. That is the seller’s own statement.
What we leave out, and why
- Conventional bank gold accounts, including Maybank’s conventional Gold Investment Account. This site only lists Islamic products or physical gold, and the Shariah status of a conventional account is not established by any source we can cite.
- Gold exchange-traded funds. A fund is a listed security, not a price we can compare with a coin or a bar, so it is outside this table.
- Jewellery and 916 gold. 916 means 91.6% gold (22 carat) and 999 means 99.9%. Jewellery prices include workmanship, so they cannot be compared with bullion.
- Sellers without a readable, current price page. Other banks’ gold account pages were either not current or could not be read when we checked. They will be added when their prices can be shown with a date.
The Shariah framework, as published
We could not read an official source on the Shariah rules for gold investment, so we do not summarise them here. SIM reports these statements with their source; it does not issue a ruling on any product.
