The short answer

We read the fee schedule that each of 15 international schools in the Klang Valley publishes on its own website. For a child aged 7 to 8 (English Year 3, American Grade 2), annual tuition runs from RM27,000 (elc International School, Sungai Buloh) to RM115,600 (ISKL, Ampang Hilir). For a child aged 14 to 15 (Year 10 / Grade 9), it runs from RM44,100 (Lycée Français de Kuala Lumpur, reduced rate for families paying themselves) to RM143,400 (ISKL).

  • Most schools state their fees before the 6% Service Tax (SST). Since 1 July 2025, that tax applies when a pupil’s annual fees exceed RM60,000.
  • Money due on entry (application fee, one-off registration fee and deposit) ranges from about RM15,500 (Tenby Setia Eco Park, Year 3, among schools that publish all three; HELP does not publish its deposit) to RM71,000 at ISKL (RM1,800 application, RM59,000 registration, RM10,200 deposit).
  • 12 of the 15 schedules are labelled 2026–27 or 2026, and one is labelled 2027. Kingsgate still shows 2025/26, and elc shows a schedule in force since September 2025.

This page lists published prices. It does not rank schools by quality, and we do not say which school to choose.

The table is sorted by the primary-level fee. You can sort it by the secondary fee or by name. Click a school to see where its fees come from. The map shows each campus. Alice Smith has two campuses, and the map shows its primary one.

How we compared

  • Same age, not same label. English, American, Australian and French schools name their year groups differently. We compare the year a child aged about 7 to 8 enters (Year 3, Grade 2, Australian Year 2, French CE2) and the year a child aged about 14 to 15 enters (Year 10, Grade 9, Australian Year 9, French 3e).
  • Annual tuition as published. When a school only gives termly or semester fees, we multiply by the number of terms it states (three terms, or two semesters at M’KIS). We say so in the school’s note.
  • Before SST, unless the school says otherwise.
  • Only what the school publishes. We did not use aggregator websites, call admissions offices or fill in brochure forms.

What the fees cover, and what they do not

Annual tuition is only part of the bill. The schedules we read list these extra costs.

One-off costs when your child joins

  • Application fee: RM1,000 to RM2,000. Never refunded.
  • Registration, enrolment or admission fee: RM6,000 (Taylor’s) to RM59,000 (ISKL). Paid once and never refunded. Some schools give a sibling discount on it.
  • Deposit: usually one term’s tuition, or a fixed sum (RM9,500 at Kingsgate, RM13,000 at LFKL, RM24,000 at Alice Smith). It is usually refunded when the child leaves, provided you give the notice the school requires (often one full term). ISKL’s RM10,200 “enrollment deposit” is different: it is not refunded and counts towards the second semester’s tuition.

Costs most schools list as extra

  • Bus. Every school that mentions it charges for it separately, and ISKL prices it by distance.
  • Meals, uniforms, trips and camps, after-school activities.
  • External exams (IGCSE, A-Level, IB, AP). AISM is the exception: it includes exam fees and textbooks in tuition.
  • Devices. Nexus asks pupils from Year 5 to buy an iPad or MacBook, and IGBIS asks for a laptop from Grade 5.
  • Technology fees. Nexus includes them in its annual total. HELP and IGBIS charge them on top.
  • English-language support (EAL). It usually costs extra: about 10% to 20% of tuition, or a higher fee band.

The 6% SST. It applies when annual fees exceed RM60,000 per pupil. Some schools also apply it to the application and registration fees of new pupils. Schools below the threshold do not charge it. Malaysian pupils with an OKU card are exempt, according to several schedules.

How to read a fee schedule

  1. Check the year on the document. Fee pages are often updated in place, and some keep an old year in the page title (BSKL, HELP). The PDF, or the heading of the table, is usually more reliable.
  2. Check how many terms there are. Most British schools have three terms. M’KIS and ISKL bill by semester, and AISM has four terms running from January to December.
  3. Compare annual and termly rates. At BSKL, paying by term costs more than the annual rate (3 × RM33,798 = RM101,394 against RM94,300 for Year 3). At Sri KDU, the first term costs more than the other two.
  4. Look for two price lists. LFKL has a “corporate” rate and a reduced rate for families paying themselves. Tenby and Sri KDU also run national-curriculum schools with separate fees on the same site.
  5. Read the deposit rules. Find out whether the deposit is refundable, how much notice you need to give, and whether it rises as your child moves up.
  6. Add SST if the annual total is above RM60,000.

FAQ

What is the cheapest international school in this list? At primary level (age 7 to 8), elc International School in Sungai Buloh has the lowest published tuition: RM27,000 a year, from a schedule in force since September 2025. At secondary level (age 14 to 15), it is the Lycée Français de Kuala Lumpur at its reduced rate (RM44,100). Its corporate rate is RM58,900. Schools outside this list may charge less.

Do international school fees in Malaysia include SST? Usually not. The schedules we read state fees before the 6% Service Tax, which has applied since 1 July 2025 when a pupil’s annual fees exceed RM60,000.

How much should I budget for the first year? Add the application fee, the one-off registration fee and the deposit to the first year’s tuition. At the schools in this list, these entry costs range from about RM15,500 (Tenby Setia Eco Park, Year 3, among schools that publish all three; HELP does not publish its deposit) to RM71,000 (ISKL, Grade 2 or Grade 9). Part of it, the deposit, is usually refunded when your child leaves. Bus, meals, uniforms and exams come on top.

Is the deposit refunded? At most schools, yes, if you give the notice the school requires (often one full term). ISKL’s enrollment deposit is not refunded: it is credited to tuition.

Why do Year 3 and Grade 2 appear in the same column? Because they are the same age. A child aged 7 to 8 is in Year 3 at an English-curriculum school, in Grade 2 at an American or IB school, and in Year 2 at an Australian school. We compare by age so that the figures line up.

What we do not cover

  • School quality, exam results or rankings. We do not rate schools, and we do not say which one to choose.
  • Schools that do not publish a full fee schedule online. On 28 October 2026, Sunway International School (Sunway City) asked parents to request its fees by email. Fairview International School showed only application and enrolment fees, under an “AY 23/24” heading. St. John’s International School kept its 2026 schedules in Google Drive files we could not read. For Rafflesia International School, we found no fee schedule on the school’s own site.
  • Schools outside KL, Selangor and Putrajaya, such as Epsom College in Malaysia (Negeri Sembilan) and Marlborough College Malaysia (Johor).
  • Boarding fees, scholarships, sibling and early-payment discounts, and EAL or learning-support fees, except where a school’s note mentions them.
  • Fees for 2027–28. Schools usually publish them between February and July. ISKL says its next schedule is expected in February 2027.

Fees change every year. Before you apply, confirm the current schedule with the school.
