The MM2H Malaysia &
PVIP Residence Investment Hub
Malaysia offers the three-tier MM2H residence program and the PVIP investor visa for Western applicants. Secure a 0% tax environment on offshore income with processing times as fast as 30 days.
MM2H: From Single Tier to Premium Strategy
The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program underwent significant reform in 2021, transitioning from a single-tier system (RM 350k deposit, RM 10k/month income) to a three-tier structure designed to attract higher-net-worth applicants while maintaining accessibility for genuine retirees.
The reform addressed concerns about speculative applicants and underutilized visas. The new system segments applicants by financial capacity: Premium (RM 5M) targets ultra-HNW seeking fast-track processing and work authorization, Platinum (RM 2M) balances prestige with accessibility, and Silver (RM 1M) maintains the original program’s spirit for retirees 50+.
Historical data shows 45-53% of MM2H holders are Chinese nationals, with Western markets (France, UK, US, Belgium, Switzerland) significantly underrepresented. This creates an “ocean blue” opportunity for Western advisors and applicants seeking less competitive processing queues.

PVIP: Alternative Investor Visa
The Premium Visa for Investment Programme (PVIP) provides a strategic route for investors who prefer active asset allocation over passive bank deposits. Instead of a stagnant fixed deposit, PVIP allows you to deploy RM 5M+ into productive Malaysian assets.
The major advantage of PVIP? It includes full work authorization. This makes it the premier choice for entrepreneurs establishing a regional headquarters or family office in Malaysia, as it bypasses the need for separate employment passes.
90-120 days. Validity: 20 years (renewable in 10-year blocks). Includes spouse, children, and parents.
Eligible Asset Classes
IPMI: Mandatory Health Insurance
All MM2H and PVIP applicants must secure International Patient Medical Insurance (IPMI) as a pre-requisite for final visa approval.
Globally Approved Providers
* Applicants over 60 may be eligible for medical exemptions under specific conditions.
Tax Advantages for MM2H & PVIP Holders
Malaysia’s territorial tax system offers one of the most competitive offshore environments in Asia for expatriates.
Offshore Income: 0% Tax
Foreign-sourced income (dividends, rental, capital gains) remitted to Malaysia is tax-exempt for MM2H/PVIP holders. This allows for legal tax optimization of global wealth.
No Local Capital Gains
Malaysia has no CGT on stocks or bonds. Only Real Property Gains Tax (RPGT) applies to local real estate, which scales down to 0% after 6 years of holding.
70+ Tax Treaties
Malaysia’s extensive network of Double Taxation Agreements (France, UK, US, etc.) prevents dual taxation and reduces withholding taxes on cross-border payments.
No Inheritance Tax
Malaysia does not levy estate or inheritance taxes. Your wealth remains intact for the next generation, making it a premier destination for long-term legacy planning.
